What is HRT?
HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) is a hormone therapy, generally used to treat symptoms associated with the various stages of menopause. It essentially involves replacing hormones (oestrogen) that decrease as you approach and experience “the change”.
What Are The Risks of HRT?
HRT is touted as being able to prevent heart disease, but research and 15 years of studies have shown that this isn’t really supported by evidence. In fact, these studies found that HRT is more likely to increase the risk of blood clots and strokes, and also increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
Is CBD A Natural Alternative to HRT?
While this isn’t technically the case because CBD doesn’t contain any hormones, in many ways, CBD can be used as a natural alternative to HRT.
This is because the natural plan of CBD can have many positive outcomes when it comes to hormone balancing, as well as combatting the symptoms of menopause, including anxiety, poor sleeping patterns, and general aches and pains.

The endocrine system is key here as it’s where your hormonal balance (or imbalance) originates. Scientific research has shown that CBD can provide relief for menopause-induced hormonal imbalance by helping to regulate the secretion of the stress-activating hormone “cortisol”.
And while it’s hard to say anything definitively due to the lack of studies carried out, CBD has also been proven to stabilise mood changes, reduce sleep disruption, and decrease the rate of bone density loss that often occurs during menopause.
There are also lots of positive stories from menopausal women about how CBD can help with some of the worst symptoms of menopause, from sleepless nights to anxiety and hot flushes, as well as body aches, joint pain, back pain and more.
All in all, CBD is a natural plan that can really benefit your body and it’s reaction to “the change”.
Can I Take CBD with HRT?
There’s increasing evidence to suggest that CBD and HRT can work well together, meaning you don’t have to choose between one or the other. However, research has also shown that those who take CBD as an alternative to HRT often find relief from a lot of the symptoms HRT is designed to combat.
